She Wore Blue Velvet

Have you ever seen anything as beautiful as this blue velvet coat? I’m obsessed. This is part of a series of outfits I put together for my feature on the Sasktel blog. Winter style does not have to be boring with bold and unique jackets! When styling a striking jacket, stick to a monochrome outfit so it doesn’t look too busy and to allow your jacket to pop! Thank you Nicole Romanoff for your photography!

I have a fascination with velvet and I have always wanted a velvet dress. So when I spotted this one I quickly snatched it up. It is so cute and I am in love with the colour. I am aware that man-made fabrics like this release plastic-microfibres whenever they are washed so I make sure to wear this item multiple times before washing – I promise to reduce my future purchases of man-made fabrics. This outfit works well in the winter because of the darker toned colours and the fact that the dress is actually quite warm. I paired it with patterned tights for detail and boots with studs for an edgier feel.

Perhaps one of the reasons I’ve always wanted a velvet dress is because my favourite woman ever, Stevie Nicks, (my goddess) loves to rock some velvet herself!
