Don’t Get Left in the Dark

I love many things, and reading happens to be one of them. During the school year I am busy reading research papers, class slides and textbooks and in the summer I try to make a dent in my “to read” book stack under my nightstand. The more I read, the more I develop a particular […]

I’m gearing up for a week of midterms and assignments, but then as an exciting reward I am going to the Lions Super Duper Flea Market next Saturday! If you live in the Saskatoon area, I highly recommend going to this flea market, I have never been disappointed!
I refilled my bulk shampoo & conditioner at @bulkbasket in my @thrivejuiceco bottles! They work perfectly! • Buying my shampoo & conditioner from bulk cuts down on my own personal waste and unnecessary plastic consumption. I paid $8 for each bottle refill. • I refilled with @onekaelements Angelica & Lavender shampoo & conditioner. These products are made from organic ingredients that are made with respect to water sources and the organisms that live in water, aka, the products are completely biodegradable. They also leave my hair unbelievably soft and shiny! I am definitely a huge fan!
I’ve really been into beige lately 🐏 when I was in Regina I stopped into @tavinylfashion and found this beautiful vintage linen blazer. Linen is made from the cellulose fibres from the inside of flax plants. Linen is usually stronger & more durable, compared to cotton. Nowadays I am very picky about what is added to my closet and I am very excited about this new addition - shoulder pads and all! • Outfit Details: -wool turtleneck: @stasiaboutique -vintage linen blazer: @tavinylfashion -leather belt: @lastshoes -cotton pants: @valuevillage_thrift -organic cotton bag: @nordisen.no -rings: @huntofhounds & @wwwjademinecom -necklace: vintage jade charm on gold chain
recovery mode today #endometriosiswarrior • @thrivejuiceco has a recycle program, if you bring back your (clean) glass bottles, you’ll get $0.50 off, per bottle, from your next juice purchase. • Thrive Juice also carries a multitude of sustainable products - if you are in @riversdaledistrict area, check them out!
love it when things are built to last - I felt like a queen while visiting the @hotel_sk • thank you to everyone who sent in some sustainable post requests, I will be able to answer some of them in upcoming posts! stay tuned!
look familiar?🛍 check out my super simple DIY project that I completed today! • whenever I go shopping for anything, I always bring reusable bags. When I am purchasing the item I always say “I don’t need a bag today”, it is a super simple way to avoid unnecessary packaging. However, when Aritzia had their last sale I bought 2 sweaters online made from 100% extra-fine merino wool from Italy. My package was delivered with a paper envelope (no plastic packaging whatsoever - yay!) which had a beautiful photograph on it. I’m all about reusing items before they have to be recycled or composted, so I framed it! Thank you Aritzia for the beautiful sweaters & for brightening up my interiors! • photograph: “Tumbleweed Catch, 2015” by Zoë Ghertner
On Thursday I travelled to Regina to see Dr. Rattray regarding endometriosis. Since I was diagnosed with severe stage 4 endometriosis in 2017 through laparoscopic surgery, I always seek second and third opinions about treatment options and differing surgeries for this disease. Endometriosis does not have a cure, so I have to try to ensure I am doing all I can for myself, with hopes that I can live a life that is not completely disabled by this invisible disease. • While I was there I visited a few places. Here I am in front of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building. This building is one of the most historic properties in Saskatchewan, as it was constructed in 1908-1912. I personally love the architecture! • outfit details: -wool & alpaca jacket: @stasiaboutique -merino wool scarf/wrap: @lululemon -cotton jeans: @levis -leather boots: @hazlewoodvintage

after I came across some of my mom’s vintage jade pieces, jade started to really grow on me. The beautiful green colour goes with gold and silver jewelry, as well as almost every outfit. • Last week when I was shipping out a package from @therawreclaim I continued to snoop around on Etsy and found a Canadian business that mines jade. I ordered some pieces and I am now happily jade obsessed. • For those who believe in alternative healing practices, jade has healing properties. The soothing energy given off by jade is suppose to help with emotional healing. Jade’s message is “love and accept yourself” & can strengthen the immune system, all of which all #endowarriors like myself can benefit from, if not just for wearing it for its beauty.
Sundays are plant-watering days!🌿 • a little tip I use to help keep my plants happy is to save eggshells. I personally cannot eat eggs, however I ask my family to save their eggshells. I put them into a jar and pour boiling water over them. I let it sit overnight, then I water my plants with the eggshell water. • Eggshells contain nutrients which will help increase the health of plants. You can even crush the eggshells after and add them to the soil. Since this can make the soil more basic (due to the calcium carbonate from the shells) ensure the plants you water with eggshell water don’t prefer acidic soil! • I love giving use to products that would have just ended up in the compost 🥚
